Huge varities of flora & fauna

The National Zoological Park has been home to a vast canvas of flora and fauna in the heart of the city.  The zoo is home to some 1,700 creatures and 185 species in all.National Zoo Park is providing shelter to different varities of wild life animal species including chimpanzee, hippopotamus, spider monkey, African wild buffalo, giraffes, Gir lion, and zebras. During the migratory season creatures like Macaque, Banteng, Emu, Hyenas, Axis deer, Fallow deer, Peafowl, Hog Dear and the Jaguar make the swamps their refuge.

The zoo maintains more than 200 varieties of trees. All the trees come with a description and information about the trees for all the tree enthusiasts. Learn more as you go past the Phulahi hedges and the hanging yellow Alamtas. There are some rare ones like Baobab trees also called Kalpavriksha, which are only four in number in entire Delhi, three of them being in the zoo. The zoo has a library also which is a storehouse of information on birds, animals, plants, popular species of birds and animals in India.
